Body Worn Camera Information

The Surf City Police Department started using Body Worn Cameras (BWCs) on October 25th, 2021. All uniformed Surf City Police Officers serving in a patrol capacity are wearing these BWCs. BWCs assist officers in the performance of their duties, and they provide a clear and unbiased recorded account of incidents that protect both citizens, as well as officers.

The Surf City Police Department utilizes the Digital Ally– FirstVu PRO Series Body Worn Camera. here's a picture of what the BWC looks like and an example of where it will be located on the officer's uniform. The BWC will be located on the exterior of an officer’s uniform in the chest area.
