BODY WORN CAMERA INFORMATION
Beginning today, October 25th, the Surf City Police Department implemented the use of body worn cameras (BWCs). All uniformed Surf City Police Officers serving in a patrol capacity are utilizing these BWCs. BWCs assist officers in the performance of their duties, and they provide a clear and unbiased recorded account of incidents that protect both citizens, as well as officers.
The Surf City Police Department utilizes the Digital Ally– FirstVu HD Series Body Worn Camera. Below is a picture of what the BWC looks like and an example of where on an officer it will be located. The BWC will be located on the exterior of an officer’s uniform in the chest area..
